Whilst holed up in a cave in Trondheim, GOAT THE HEAD are unaware of the upheaval their absence is unfolding in lands faraway. With a special show planned for Metal Hammer-sponsored event, Get In The Ring on 11th December, they have also inspired the most influential metal scribes the world over to include them in the ‘Hot 100 – bands to watch in 2008’.
The eight-page piece featured in the current issue of Metal Hammer (UK) that also includes metal stalwarts such as METALLICA, LED ZEPPELIN, ANTHRAX and SLIPKNOT together with hot rising stars THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, AS I LAY DYING and JOB FOR A COWBOY, also dedicates a hefty slot to GOAT THE HEAD (one of the only three Norwegian bands mentioned in the ‘Hot 100 in 2008’ piece). Here’s an excerpt:
“The first sign that something unusual was stirring in the normally necro metal environs of Norway was when Metal Hammer caught sight of the very expensive and very, very funny video for GOAT THE HEAD’s ‘Darwinian Minions’, a window on a world populated by cavemen, filthy caravans and spectacular explosions. This fur-clad four-piece from the wild plains of Trondheim have taken the notion of ‘back to basics’ to a new dimension – by about 130,000 years, when groove-laden death metal was used to lure mammoths, and tribe people would hit their leaders with squeaky clubs. Having just released their debut album, ‘Simian Supremacy’, the band will be slugging it out at our Get In The Ring bloodbath before hitting the road (probably with their fists) next year across Europe. A sequel to their mini-blockbuster is planned too.”
